Participants evaluated their top leader’s servant leadership behaviors (Ehrhart, 2004). Participants also assessed their work-related basic needs(Van den Broeck et al., 2010). Each item was rated on a 5-point Likert-type scale. Ehrhart’s(2004) 14-item general measure of servant leadership (α= .93) was used to measure how often the top leader’s serv ant leadership behaviors were displayed. Each item response varied from 1 =not at all to 5 =frequently, if not always.
