Nida is a famous American translator, translation theorist and linguist. He graduated from the University of Michigan in 1943 with a Ph.D. in Linguistics. After graduation, he worked as a translator at the American Bible Society for a long time. His academic focus is on the translation of the Bible. After a long period of research, he has summed up his translation theory through the practice of translating the Bible, and has also published several translation works that have influenced the world, such as: Published in 1964 "Explorations in Translation Science", "Translation Theory and Practice" published in 1969, "From one language to another" published in 1986. Many well-known translation theories were born in these works, such as: dynamic equivalence, functional equivalence, and the four-step process of translation (analysis, transformation, reconstruction, and verification). He also put forward the important concept of "core sentence", which means that the consistency of the core structure of various languages is greater than the consistency of the surface structure. The most famous among many theories is his theory of functional equivalence, which has had a huge impact on the world translation field and occupies a very important place in the translation field.
