In Finnish, the Northern Lights are called "revontulets" and, literally, the Fox Fire. Ancient Finns believed that because a fox was running on a snow-covered hillside, its tail swept through the crystal-sparkling snowflakes all the way into the sky, creating the Northern Lights.
