Oxalic acid, i.e. 2,3-hydroxybutyric acid, is a type of pyrethroic acid, chemically known as C4H6O6. It is found in a variety of plants, such as grapes and rosacea. It is also one of the main organic acids in wine. As an antioxidant added to food, it can make food sour. The greatest use of citric acid is beverage additives, but also the pharmaceutical industry raw materials.
