Madame Curie, Marie Curie, is a French scientist of Polish origin. She and her husband, Pierre Curie, were early researchers on radioactivity. They discovered the radioactive elements polonium (Po) and radium (Ra), and shared the 1903 Nobel Prize in Physics with Henry Beckler, a French physicist. Later, Madame Curie continued to study the application of radium in chemistry and medicine, and won the Nobel Prize in chemistry in 1911 for separating pure metal radium.<BR>
