"The White Elephant-like Mountains" is one of Hemingway's famous short stories. In this novel, Hemingway uses a highly symbolic geographical description, simple plot, implicit and dramatic dialogue perfectly demonstrated his writing skills. Like many of Hemingway's other novels, the story is set in a railway station in A foreign country, Spain. It was written about an American man and a girl named Gig waiting for a train to Madrid. While waiting for the train, the man tried to persuade the girl to have a minor operation. The novel doesn't directly address what the surgery is, but we can infer from context that it was an abortion. The whole novel is basically composed of conversations between American men and girls.
