Prasanna and others studied the colonization of cyanobacteria and its effect on soil micro-organisms and crop plant parameters through field experiments, and the results showed that inoculating nitrogen-fixing cyanobacteria under the conditions of applying total potassium of total phosphorus and reducing chemical nitrogen fertilizer by 25%, still promoted plant growth, increased crop yield and significantly enhanced soil microbial activity. It is shown that nitrogen-fixing cyanobacteria not only secrete substances that promote plant growth affect plant productivity and soil fertility, but also serve as an organic input source in rice-wheat farming systems by providing nitrogen and carbon.
